The Hospitality and Gaming Management (HGM) programme at the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), which began recruiting students in 2002/03, graduated its first batch of undergraduate students in 2006. This year (2016) we celebrate the 10th year anniversary since HGM’s 1st batch of graduates. To mark this anniversary, a major alumni study was conducted from June to August 2016.

 

Key Highlights of HGM Alumni Study:

  • Information for 169 HGM alumni were collected, representing about half of HGM alumni members.
  • Among the 169 HGM graduates, 75% majored in gaming management and 25% majored in Convention and Hospitality Management.
  • Many HGM graduates now hold managerial positions within their organizations. Forty-two (25%) of our surveyed graduates hold a title of assistant manager, manager, or senior manager. Fifteen graduates (9%) hold a title of assistant director and above, including two graduates who hold the title of general manager and one graduate who is an assistant vice president.
  • A significant number of graduates (~25%) went on to pursue postgraduate studies; universities that they attended, or currently attending, include Harvard University, Cornell University, New York University, London School of Economics and Political Science, University of Sydney, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Chinese University of Hong Kong, and University of Macau.
  • Many HGM graduates work in Macau (~84%); >55% work in the various integrated resorts. Top employers of HGM graduates, ranked accordingly, are (1) Melco Crown Entertainment, (2) Las Vegas Sands, (3) Wynn Macau/Palace, and (4) Galaxy Entertainment.
